Drumchapel Schools Roman Sculpture Project

posted 23/12/2008

Drumchapel Primary Schools recently worked up their collective creative energies to produce a spectacular display of artwork inspired by the nearby Antonine Wall and Roman artefacts from the Antonine Wall in the Hunterian Museum.

At the launch of the project on 27th November, 2008, Professor David Breeze, Antonine Wall Co-ordinator, Historic Scotland, selected six of the children's artworks to be permanently incorporated into a bench which will be located close to the Antonine Wall.

Professor Breeze said "I have been so impressed with the standard of work that it is very difficult to select six from so many good examples!... The good news is though, that we have decided that everyone's art will appear in a new online gallery for the Antonine Wall web site!"

The Schools participating in the project are:

Antonine Primary School
Langfaulds Primary School
St Clare's Primary School
Drummore Primary School
Stonedyke Primary School
Camstradden Primary School

Project Partners:

Kelvin Clyde Greenspace
Culture and Sport Glasgow
Drumchapel Woodland Group
University of Glasgow Hunterian Museum
North Glasgow College
Drumchapel Environment Trust
Forestry Commission Scotland
Alan Kain Furniture Maker
