"Past Lives" on the Antonine Wall

BBC Radio Scotland's "Past Lives" has recorded a piece on the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site for broadcast later this month.

Programme presenter Mark Stephen and Producer Dawn Munro trudged through the snow up to Bar Hill on Monday 9th February with Jim Devine of the Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow, to find out a bit more about some of the challenges in presenting the UK's newest World Heritage Site to the public. They then returned to the Hunterian Museum to view the Roman stones and discover how we are using CGI-Live action technology to reconstruct the fort at Bar Hill and recreate a "Past Life" for Verecunda, the Roman slave who's gravestone was found near Bar Hill, and which is now in the Hunterian. Mark Stephen was fascinated by the use of CGI-Live action to place Verecunda within the Bar Hill fort 3D model, and thought this was an excellent way to enhance the understanding and interpretation of the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site and its associated collections.

The programme was broadcasted on February 23rd 2009 on BBC Radio Scotland. You can listen to it here
