Bar Hill
Aerial view of Castle Hill, Bar Hill
The iron age fort known as Castlehill stands next to the Roman fort on Bar Hill. It had probably been abandoned for many years by the time the Roman army arrived to build their wall, but it is an important reminder that the land in the vicinity of the Wall had been farmed for centuries before the Romans.
