Distance Slab of the Second Legion, Duntocher
A sandstone distance slab erected by the Second Legion, recording the completion of 4140 feet of the Wall. It was found on the north bank of Duntocher Burn between 1826-1844 and is 50cm high by 73cm wide by 19cm deep. It bears the inscription: LEG II AVG F P IIII CXL which translates as: "The Second Augustan Legion built 4140 feet [of the wall]".
