Accessibility

This section of the wall can be accessed from behind the Castlecary House Hotel, east of Castlecary village on the B816. A kissing gate gives access into the field containing the site at Garnhall and then Tollpark can be accessed by following the waymarked path.

The ground is unpaved and uneven.

History

At Tollpark and Garnhall, there is a well-preserved section of the Antonine Wall. A temporary camp was located about 400m south of the wall here, but this now lies beneath the Wardpark North Industrial Estate.

What can I see today?

There are no visible traces of the camp but there is a long visible section of the ditch and outer mound of the Antonine Wall. This is an attractive walk, through woodland and with wide landscape views to the north.
